This lovely residence Scarra Hill at Ripley North Yorkshire, set
in 5 acres, had been sympathetically restored several years ago .
During a building survey for the prospective buyers, it was discovered
that the wall ties had failed. We were asked to install new ties however
the owners didn't want to see any signs of the work. We installed
Helifix Drifix ties through the bed joint up at an angle through the
brick into the inside skin, the holes were patched up with matching
mortar and blended in so that the ties could not then be detected
The south facing elevation seemed to take the brunt of the prevailing
weather and the faces had spilled off some 70 bricks. We couldn't
find a brick to match so they were repaired with eproface. The whole
elevation was then repointed with Easipoint standard mortar, again
colour matched to the existing pointing.
