Standing outside Liverpool town hall is this historic fountain. Unfortunately
over the years because the fountain was not water tight it had fallen
into disrepair. With the advent of the tall ships race in Liverpool
the council commissioned Peter Wakefield to restore the fountain to
its original working order for the day of the race. Working to a tight
deadline of 1 week, work was carried out round the clock at up to
10hours a day to seal the fountain using Thoro water plug. The large
and obvious cracks were filled and then the base was covered with
several coats of thoroseal. The plumbers, and then the painters finished
off the work with a day to spare!
We were very proud to have been involved in
this prestigious restoration and are pleased to say that 10 years
later it still looks good!
